I did research on ancient armor to design the child's clothing. The chain mail suit is crocheted, and the armor quilted and beaded. The shield is coiled, as is the basket of goodies. The carpet is hand woven silk, and the imaginary friend hand woven cotton over wooden beads. The toys are wrapped stones, and the inner house structure is wrapped drift wood. This art work involved an incredible amount of labor and took months of deep thinking to see it done. It took on a life of it's own and kept inventing things to be added, keeping my fingers occupied for most of that winter. I wondered about the sense of what I was doing, but it wanted to be made.
